Understanding Brand Values: My Conversation on The Business Animal Podcast
Brand values are one of those things that business owners hear they're supposed to have, but figuring out what they actually are — and what you're supposed to do with them — can be a little confusing.
And no, choosing five impressive-sounding words and sticking them on your website doesn't automatically mean you've defined your brand values.
I joined The Business Animal Podcast for a conversation about what brand values really mean, how to identify the ones that reflect your business, and why they matter.
We talked about how your values influence the decisions you make, the way you communicate with clients, and the kind of business you want to build.
It's a topic that's relevant whether you're just starting your photography business or you've been running one for years.
What We Discussed
During the episode, we explored:
What brand values are and why they're important to your business
How to identify values that genuinely reflect what matters to you
Why your values should influence more than just your marketing
How brand values can help guide business decisions
One of the things I think is important to understand is that your brand values aren't supposed to be a collection of words you think potential clients want to hear.
They should reflect how you actually operate.
If you say client relationships are important, for example, that should be reflected in how you communicate with clients and the experience you provide.
Otherwise, they're just words on a website.
