You can spend a whole lot of time fixing things that weren't actually broken.
Change the pricing. Rewrite the website. Post more. Try a promotion. Buy a new CRM. Decide you hate the new CRM. Go back to the old CRM. Wonder if you just need to make more Reels.
We've all been there.
But more inquiries won't help much if the inquiries you're already getting aren't booking. New pricing won't solve a problem that's really about how you're explaining what you sell. And you don't need a brand-new workflow if the real issue is that you're rewriting the same six emails every time somebody books.
Before we start fixing things, I want to figure out what's actually causing the problem.
Then we fix that.

I'm not going to hand you my business model and tell you to copy it.
Your clients aren't my clients. Your market isn't my market. Your goals aren't necessarily my goals. And something that works beautifully for one photographer can be a spectacular disaster for another.
So we'll look at your business.
What's working? What's making you money? What's taking way too much of your time? Where are clients getting stuck? What have you already tried? And what are you actually trying to build?
From there, we'll figure out what makes sense for you.
It could mean making a fairly big change. Or we could discover that your life would be considerably easier if we fixed something ridiculously simple.
I'm a big fan of ridiculously simple.
Pricing & Profitability: Are you actually making money from the work you're doing?
Marketing: Are the right horse owners finding you, and are you giving them a reason to pay attention?
Sales: Are inquiries turning into bookings? Are clients buying what you actually want to sell?
Client Communication: What are you saying before, during, and after the session, and where are clients getting confused?
Systems & Workflows: What can we simplify, repeat, template, or automate so your brain doesn't have to run the entire operation?
Website & Messaging: Can someone land on your website and quickly figure out what you do, who it's for, and what they're supposed to do next?
Business Direction: What are you actually trying to build, and does the stuff you're doing every week have anything to do with getting you there?
Not everything needs fixing. We'll concentrate on the things that do.

You know too much about your own business.
You know what you meant on your website. You know how clients are supposed to move through your process. You know why your pricing is structured the way it is. You know what you're trying to sell.
Your clients don't know any of that.
Having someone else look at the whole thing can expose disconnects that are really hard to see when you're the person who built it.
And there are times when you already know exactly what's wrong. You're just stuck on what the heck to do about it.
Either way, you don't need another generic checklist. You need to figure out what makes sense here, in your business.

Before I became a full-time photographer, I worked in marketing and business development.
Now I run Ride the Sky Equine Photography, photographing horses, riders, equestrian seniors, pets, and equestrian businesses.
So I understand marketing plans, target audiences, business strategy, pricing, client experience, and all the other business-y things.
I also understand what it's like when a client calls to tell you the horse rolled ten minutes before the session.
Both are useful.
I'm also the co-author of Equine & Equestrian Photography: Poses That Sell, a photography educator and speaker, and I've spent years helping photographers improve their businesses and their photography.
When we work together, we're not talking about business in theory.
We're talking about what actually makes sense when you're the person who has to go home and do it.
You could be building your first real business systems and trying to avoid learning everything the hard way.
You could have been in business for years, but something that used to work isn't working anymore.
Your business could be growing faster than the way you've been running it can keep up.
Or you could simply be staring at the whole thing thinking, I know something isn't working, but I have no idea where to start.
You don't need to have the answer before we work together.
That's kind of the point.

You don't need to fix your entire business before Tuesday.
You don't even need to know exactly what needs fixing.
Bring me the messy version. We'll look at what's working, what's not, what you're trying to build, and what deserves your attention first. Then we'll go from there
